Started by Richard Reckmeyer on 28 Sep 2011

Does anyone have a community health worker curriculum for oral health? Our project targets rural Rwanda

Hi,

Your best bet is the classic "Where there is no Dentist." It is published by the Hesperian Foundation, and can be downloaded for free here.

It all depends on what you want your CHWs to do for oral health: prevention/education, fluoride campaigns, actual dental care.

Good luck,

Thanks, Dan

We may have met at the NCD conference at Harvard in March.

I have the book but haven't looked at it for a while. In your experience in Chiapas, Mexico and Guatemala, have you developed any manuals and/or curricula for teaching oral health to nurses, CHW's, and/or school children and administrators? In addition to the normal brushing instructions, we would like to teach nurses to apply fluoride varnish for example
