Hi All,

I wanted to share info on 2 upcoming training webinars available at no charge as provided in this week’s TB-Related News and Journal Items Weekly Update by the U.S. CDC NPIN (http://www.cdcnpin.org/lyris/ui/listservs.aspx#journal).

1/ Part 1 Grand Rounds - Why do TB drugs fail?

Date: October 11, 2009, 11:00AM EST

Despite the availability of effective chemotherapy, difficult issues remain with patient adherence and with the emergence of drug resistant TB (MDR- and XDR-TB). There is a need to develop and use new drugs with high potency that permit shorter durations of treatment and that produce high cure rates. Optimizing the selection and dosing of TB drugs, both new and old, is becoming increasingly complex.

Will be led by: Charles Peloquin, PharmD
Professor and Director of the Infectious Disease Pharmacokinetics Laboratory
Emerging Pathogens Institute
University of Florida Colleges of Pharmacy and Medicine

And moderated by David Ashkin, MD
Medical Executive Director, A.G. Holley State Hospital
Medical Director, Southeastern National Tuberculosis Center (SNTC)
