This four-day training program will familiarize the clinician with all
aspects of tuberculosis infection, disease and clinical care using an
interdisciplinary and interactive approach. Course objectives are
accomplished through a combination of didactic lectures and interactive case
management discussions. The course is conducted at A.G. Holley State
Hospital, one of the last free-standing TB sanatoriums in the U.S.

teach, and evaluate a Mantoux Tuberculin Skin Test (TST) course. The course
content includes skills for planning and conducting a TST training including
adult learning principles and teaching strategies. The curriculum is
provided through lecture and participatory activities, including practicum
in TST administration and reading and instructional skills demonstration.
Each participant must demonstrate proficiency in delivering course content
plus administering and reading the TST. Participants will receive feedback
from experienced trainers as they practice their skills.

Management Course

This course was designed to improve the planning and managerial capabilities
of TB program managers throughout the southeast. It was structured to

Special Settings: Recent Challenges and Successes

This four hour pre-conference to the Southeastern TB Controllers Meeting
will highlight challenges, successes and lessons learned through discussion
of several contact investigations which have occurred within the SE region.
Using a case presentation format, various adult and pediatric contact
investigations (CIs) within challenging settings and those associated with
complex co-morbidities will be discussed. Special settings include: a
homeless shelter, correctional facilities, work sites, hospitals and
schools. Complex co-morbidities include MDR and other immunocompromizing
diagnoses. As relevant, the use of IGRAs within these contact investigations
will be covered.

and potential new approaches to treatment of TB in HIV-infected individuals.

quarterly TB Morbidity and Mortality (M&M) Review. This conference focuses
on some of the most complex and challenging cases of patients with
tuberculosis who receive their care at A.G. Holley State Hospital. The
lectures provide unique opportunities to learn about drug resistance, TB/HIV
co-infection, substance abuse and adverse drug effects in a case-based
format.

The M&M Review is a traditional educational forum for healthcare
professionals practicing in hospital settings. However, with web-based
technology, healthcare professionals working in community public health
settings or academic health centers can also take advantage of this

Location: Southeastern National Tuberculosis Center, Gainesville, Florida

This interactive “hands on” course will train individuals to successfully
conduct a contact investigation through didactic lecture, skill-building
exercises, and role-playing. This course will focus on developing the
knowledge and skills needed to complete these key tasks, including:
determine if a contact investigation is necessary, interview index cases and
contacts, conduct site visits, and manage and evaluate a contact
investigation. Florida participants will be selected by the Florida TB
Bureau. There are five slots available for others in our southeastern
region.
