Dear Rhitam,

Over the past several years, Partners In Health (PIH) has been running regional and international training courses designed for representatives from Russia/Former Soviet Union, sub-Saharan African countries, South America, South Asia (Pakistan), international consulting agencies, and NGOs. PIH draws on its country-based TB/MDR-TB treatment programs in Russia, Peru, and Lesotho, as well as local organizations and experts involved in the fight against TB for these workshops.

Each workshop is designed to meet the specific needs of participants, and is presented in the language of the target country (with simultaneous translation for those sessions which are led by foreign experts).

Please feel free to contact me (), Dr. Alex Golubkov () or Dr. Salmaan Keshavjee () for more details.

Best Regards,
Tom Nicholson

Is there any interest in teaching a short module on brief tobacco cessation in the training programs? Given the important role that tobacco use plays in increasing the risk of death and decreasing the rate of TB treatment completion, it would be great to be able to incorporate cessation counseling into the training modules. If there is interest, please let me know as we may be able to assist. If it is already being done, we would love to learn from your model.

Thanks,
