Quarraisha Abdool Karim calls on prevention programs in southern Africa--burdened with the highest prevalence in the world--to target girls and young women, who are especially vulnerable to HIV. Bold prevention options are needed. Yet, as we continue to search for biomedical solutions, it is important to develop a balanced portfolio that addresses the real risks facing young women in the region.
