HIV Prevention Knowledge Base: Microbicides
Started by John Nicholson on 07 Apr 2011
Microbicides are products formulated for individuals to apply topically to reduce their risk of HIV and possibly other sexually transmitted infections. At present, this approach is experimental, although several broad-spectrum microbicides have been clinically evaluated. Recently, however, the 2010 clinical trial run by the Centre for the AIDS Programme of Research in South Africa (CAPRISA) has provided the first proof of concept for microbicide efficacy.
The HIV Prevention Knowledge Base is a collection of research and tools to help you find what works in HIV prevention. Divided into tabs, each entry offers background information, evidence-based research summaries, promising interventions, tools & curricula, and additional resources.
