Alcohol: The Forgotten Drug in HIV/AIDS
Studies in southern and eastern Africa show that alcohol use is associated with high-risk behaviors that increase the risk of HIV infection. The authors urge better integration of studies on alcohol use within HIV research and programming, and call for structural interventions in alcohol-serving venues.

Guidelines on HIV and Infant Feeding 2010: Principles and Recommendations for Infant Feeding in the Context of HIV and a Summary of Evidence
New WHO guidelines recommend that national authorities in each country decide on the best infant feeding practice for mothers living with HIV or HIV-exposed infants, and promote that practice. The revised guidelines offer seven evidence-based recommendations for a range of local contexts, and include simplified terminology for determining whether replacement feeding is appropriate.

Twelve Myths about HIV/AIDS and People Who Use Drugs
This commentary draws on evidence from numerous studies to refute 12 "myths"-preconceptions or biases-about drug users that can have negative effects on HIV programming for this group. Citing the research that belies these myths-that drug users are noncompliant, for example, or that needle exchange encourages drug use-the authors urge policymakers to use evidence, rather than preconceptions, to develop HIV prevention programming for people who use drugs.
