Dear Leigh,
Thanks so much for posting this. In looking through it, I saw that one of the "must reads" in the update was Parkhurst, Weller, and Kemp's article in the Lancet on "getting research out of practice" (GROP), vs. the traditional approach of "getting research into practice" (GRIP). With so much amazing work going on in the field, there are many opportunities to learn while doing, and given the complexities of effectively delivering, HIV prevention, it can be difficult to know how to translate advances in scientific knowledge into operational guidance for programs.
However, in order to rigorously evaluate and understand programs, one must have a clear hypothesis and collect the right data. Without resources from donors, I imagine that this is difficult to do.
Are there programs or donors that have experience with these research-practice partnerships? I would be very interested to hear any experiences that relate to the GROP framework that Parkhurst et al present.
