TB Infection Control

Looking for case reports on TB infection control efforts

Started by Anders Chen on 07 Dec 2009

Hello,
I am looking to compile and review any publications, case reports, abstracts or any documentation on specific efforts to implement TB infection control policy in resource limited settings - challenges, successes, etc. Perhaps not surprisingly, I am finding little in the traditional literature. Indeed much of what I have found relates to this forum, including Professor Mehtar's description of the South Africa situation and a recent posting on a case study coming out of Indonesia.

I am hoping that people may be able to help guide me to any such existing reports that you are aware of, either through your own experience and networks, or through helping me expand my search. Thus far I have searched the Medline/Pubmed, Cinahl, Embase, Cochrane and WHO databases, as well as regional databases including LILACS and AFRO. I have looked through abstract books/conference proceedings for PEPFAR Implementers Meetings and IUTLD/World Lung Health conferences for the past few years (and am hoping to obtain the ICASA abstracts, though so far unsuccessfully). I have also looked through the websites and publications for some of the major TB/HIV organizations including TB CAP, Stop TB partnership, IUTLD and NAM.

Any further suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Dr. Jerry Friedland also gave a talk at the IUATLD conference last week
about successfully implementing infection control in rural South Africa
that you may find useful.
