Medical Aid Films (MAF): Films for Life
Started by Maggie Sullivan on 03 Mar 2013
The more I work in Southern Mexico and Central America, the more I come to appreciate the powerful tools that are video and cellphones. Simple, colorful, moving images, animated, language - appropriate, targeted to local health literacy and accompanied by music - this is what people remember. This is what I remember. MAF's film topics and language availability is ever-increasing. However, translation is not even always necessary as demonstrated by the animated film on cervical cancer screening which is accompanied by music only, communicating everything by image alone. You can download films for free. This resource, in addition to Deborah Van Dyke's Global Health Media Project, are invaluable tools.
A few of many MAF modules:
- Cervical Cancer
- Safe Delivery and Healthy Newborn
- Obstetric and Neonatal Emergencies
- Understanding Your Body
- Basic Obstetric Ultrasound
- Food for Life
