Nursing Crisis - Christine Gorman's blog
Started by Anat Rosenthal, PhD on 04 Sep 2009
Dear community members,
Lately I came across Christine Gorman’s blog (http://globalhealthreport.blogspot.com/), especially her reports on the nursing crisis in Malawi. As both the Malawian health care system and the nurses in Malawi are close to my heart and my work, I found Gorman’s reports to be engaging and thought provoking and thought the members of the community might find them interesting. See also Gorman’s video featured on CNN and accessible on the blog.
Best,
Anat

She expects to post the narrative this week.

Interesting presentation, thanks for sharing.
I also wanted to share the links to a photo-essay on her trip to Malawi, focusing on the work and profiles of several nurses, in the American Journal of Nursing: http://journals.lww.com/ajnonline/Fulltext/2009/06000/At_Work_with_Malawi_s_N..., and the following CNN piece and online video: Malawi halts nursing brain drain, http://edition.cnn.com/2009/HEALTH/07/29/malawi.nurses.shortage/#cnnSTCVideo

Thanks for sharing these great information that continue to challenge nurses across continents - we are endowed with the Big VOICE but how do we utilize it to be heard. Tess
