Nursing School Twinning
Started by Sheila Davis on 21 Jan 2011
Does anyone have any examples of twinning between nursing schools that have has a true bi-directional approach to the relationship? I am looking for good models that include both student and faculty development as well as increasing capacity for long term improvement in nursing education.
thanks,
Sheila

Our nursing school at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, has a bidirectional approach to a partnership with a group of health providers in the Dominican Republic and some of them teach in the nursing school at the Centro Universitario del Nordeste (CURNE), part of the Universidad Autonoma in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic (DR). We have been doing research together, and involving students both from Emory as well as from the health sciences at CURNE in the DR. While it is not truly twinning in the sense of curriculum development and education, we are working more and more closely in the development of nursing and community health research. I am happy to talk more about our historical development and have a number of publications I would be happy to send to you.

My organization has managed a number of nursing twinning programs in the former Soviet Union and Central and Eastern Europe as well as (currently) in Africa. I would be happy to share more information about our programs and/or get you in contact with colleagues and current and former partners depending on your specific ideas/needs.
