Online Global Health Courses for Nurses (and students and physicians)

The Institute for International Medicine (INMED)is pleased to announce two online intensive training courses.The 2011 International Medicine Intensive Online Course is a six-week course from 9/5/11 to 10/15/11 designed for healthcare professionals and students in the fields that routinely diagnose and treat disease. The 2011 International Public Health Intensive Online Course is a five-week course from 9/12/11 to 10/15/11 for healthcare professionals and students (including undergrads) that focuses on disease prevention and community development.

The International Medicine Intensive course will address:
-International Public Health
-Diseases of Poverty
-Cross-Cultural Competency
-Health Leadership

Learning Objectives:
At the completion of the INMED International Medicine Intensive Online Course, students and healthcare professionals in the context of a low-resource community will be able to:
advocate for literacy, economic development, and effective interventions to promote health and prevent death and disability; prevent, diagnose and treat the leading diseases of poverty; assure that healthcare interventions are culturally appropriate; design effective health interventions as part of a leadership team; demonstrate technical proficiency in relevant clinical skills.

The International Public Health course will address:
-Diseases of Poverty
-Cross-Cultural Competency
-Health Leadership
