Humanitarian Medical Missions- lessons from post-earthquake Haiti

Amy Costello, a reporter formerly with NPR and "The World" has a blog working to "ignite debate about the business of doing good". Her most recent post pertained to the humanitarian medical response in post-earthquake Haiti. As much of this work involved surgical interventions, it offers an important perspective. Full disclosure, I contributed to this segment. I'd love to hear reactions/comments- as would she.
the entire segments is on her website: http://www.tinyspark.org/uncategorized/medical-volunteers/
an abbreviated version heard on The World broadcast: http://www.theworld.org/2012/10/haiti-medical-volunteers/
