Innovation- A Simple Cell phone used as a portable blood-oxygen tester; -Wins Grand Challenges

The “Phone Oximeter,” was developed by a team led by Mark Ansermino, a scientist and associate professor at the University of British Columbia. It will be field-tested in Stellenbosch, South Africa, where partners in the project are already working to identify mothers at risk because of high blood pressure.
“Midwives will use this to screen women during pregnancy,”

I couldn't tell from your power point if this could be done on a non- smart phone. I'v been fascinated of late that everywhere i go in the world cell phones and coke have already set up a distribution network. I wonder if we can not only piggy back on the tech, but also on the distribution networks?
