Misconceptions in Global Surgery
Started by Jaymie Claire Ang Henry on 27 Aug 2011
Part of the work in Global Surgery lies in advocacy and spreading awareness of the great need and disparity in surgical care. We simply need various stakeholders in public health to realize the importance of surgery and make room for it in the public agenda. To get the ball rolling, we need to dispel certain myths and misconceptions about surgery to firmly establish that it has a role in Global Health and is here to stay.
Here's a link to a page that summarizes some of the misconceptions in surgery, with a further link to an article published in the WHO Bulletin last June. Comments are welcome to build on/ improve the list.
