Opportunities for Surgical Residents interested in careers in Global Surgery?
Started by Adhiambo Agola on 19 Nov 2011
Not sure if this is the right forum to ask this, but...
There was a discussion earlier about bread and butter surgeon looking for international opportunities. This brought up the question for me, concerning opportunities for those of us still in training. I am a surgical resident in the US with very STRONG interest in international health/global surgery and looking for opportunities for international rotations in surgery with the aim of tailoring my future career for international work, particularly in Africa. Ideas or any advice is appreciated. On a side note, anybody attending COSECSA in Zambia in December this year?

Dear Dr. Agola,
You can find a number of resources for surgical resident volunteers at the Operation Giving Back (OGB) website, the volunteerism initiative for the American College of Surgeons. In addition to our Resources page, our database of volunteer opportunities offered through our partner organizations includes opportunities for residents. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at .
Best,
Akiyo
