What are the requirements for online access to UpToDate?

For online access from a desktop (or laptop) computer, UpToDate online is validated for use with the current versions of the following browsers: Internet Explorer; FireFox; Opera; Safari.

Further System Requirements information are available on the UpToDate website at the following URL: http://www.utdol.com/online/help/manual/sysreq/index.html

I am a medical student. Can I apply?

Applicants must be primary care physicians who practice and/or teach in medically underserved communities, and do not currently have access to UpToDate.

If you are a medical student, we advise you to discuss this grant with your professors and/or dean of faculty and consider applying with your university. Furthermore, if your university has partnerships with local organizations to support the provision of health care or related services in the community, or that you personally volunteer with a health care provider that offers services to underserved populations in your area, you should also consider applying with them.

Our organization provides health care services to underserved populations in multiple countries/programs/sites. How many applications can we send?

Organizations and NGOs operating in multiple countries and sites should discuss with their program managers which programs or sites have the best chances at qualifying for the grant before applying. The decision to send one or several applications for different sites/programs per organization should take into account the information needed to apply and the requirements for grantees as detailed in the application. Please note that UpToDate limits online access to a maximum of 5 IP addresses per grantee, and that UpToDate is only available in English.

In order to guide your organization in this decision, you may want to answer the following sample of questions:
- Are your sites/programs independently registered and run at the country level, or are they “subsidiaries” of the main organization? What does this mean in terms of budget and funding sources?
- Among your programs/sites, which ones have a senior clinical staff member that could assume the role of UpToDate liaison and therefore organize one on-site training session and regularly contribute to GHDonline (see grantee requirements for more details)?
- Of all your programs/sites, which one has the smallest budget/resources for training?

Is there a fee to apply to this grant program?

There is no fee to apply to this new international grant subscription. If you would like more information on regular subscription options, please visit UpToDate’s Subscribe/Renew page.

If I have a problem with an existing UpToDate account or service, who should I contact in order to fix this?

If you are encountering issues with an existing UpToDate account or services, you should contact the UpToDate Customer Service with your full contact information and details on the issue.

In addition to continuing to learn from nursing colleagues, GHDonline is a very good resource on topics that are not necessarily my area of expertise. It has become a "go to" place to quickly get an overview of topics from a diverse group of providers.
