About Aparajita Ramakrishnan
Aparajita Ramakrishnan is a Senior Program Officer and has been at the foundation since Avahan’s inception in August, 2003. She has worn several hats within Avahan – from managing the program in Karnataka and the Northeast to advocacy and communications, to leading Avahan’s efforts with the Government of India’s National AIDS Control Organization. Currently, Aparajita leads the Programme, Transition and Donor Relations team within Avahan, managing implementation programmes in the six states and national highways, transition to government and other key donors.
Before joining the foundation, Aparajita was a consultant in McKinsey & Company's New York office for three years, serving media, retail and telecommunications clients. Previously, Aparajita spent three years with The Walt Disney Company's Corporate Strategic Planning Group, based in Burbank, California, leading efforts in the mergers and acquisitions, technology, consumer products and R&D areas.
Aparajita completed her A.B. in Government (magna cum laude, 1995) and her M.B.A. (with distinction, 2000) at Harvard University and Harvard Business School, respectively.

The Indian National AIDS Control Program is an excellent example of a focused program, with over 60% of its budget allocated towards prevention, and a sizable portion allocated especially to prevention with high risk groups.
