Gaël CLAQUIN replied to "Effect of ambient temperatures on transmission in open-air facilities" in the TB Infection Control community.
Hi, Interesting thoughts. On this topic there is the article "Exposure to cold and respiratory tract infections", from INT J TUBERC LUNG DIS 2007; 11(9):938–943. It seems our grandma was right (at least on this ...) Please find abstract below. There was a recent (early 2009)similar Lancet article if my memory is not playing me tricks, but I don't have access to this journal. BTW: how to upload docs for the community ? Do I ...

Gaël CLAQUIN started a discussion "Justification (IC-wise) for glass-protected counters for reception ?" in the TB Infection Control community.
Dear community, it is a common practice to have receptionist protected by glass counter in many countries. Outside of cash-handling issues, it seems intuitively justified as a measure of protection against droplets, obviously not for small particles (particularly if the booth is not having top coverage/ceiling, as often seen in hot countries). Gaël CLAQUIN replied to "Summary: Early treatment outcomes and HIV status of patients with extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis in South Africa: a retrospective cohort study" in the MDR-TB Treatment & Prevention community.

African countries you'll get access to the full text and PDF of this article (I just did it from Mozambique to be sure). Otherwise (Sophie ?), what is ...

Gaël CLAQUIN replied to "Summary: Early treatment outcomes and HIV status of patients with extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis in South Africa: a retrospective cohort study" in the MDR-TB Treatment & Prevention community.
Cordialement.

Gaël CLAQUIN replied to "Re: Relocating HIV positive health workers in less risky areas in terms of TB infection control" in the TB Infection Control community.
Dear Esther and community, thank you for bringing this very relevant issue. As a matter of fact, though not answering to the post I would like to broaden the topic, asking to the Community how to handle "the less worse possible" this kind of real life situation: * having HIV+ staff, working in poorly ventilated and TB-transmission exposed area in the public sector, for whom you might or not know their CD4 level * were ...
