About Isaac Holeman
I'm a cofounder and Chief Strategist at Medic Mobile, an mHealth organization that uses low-cost mobile technology to create connected, coordinated health systems that save more lives. I am based out of a suitcase and might be anywhere in East Africa at the moment. I recently completed a bachelors degree in biochemistry & molecular biology at Lewis & Clark. I enjoy informatics, global health, behavioral research, serial entrepreneurship, and red letter Christians. I love my job, though I miss my beloved Cascadia.

Isaac Holeman replied to "Rwandan OpenMRS Training course" in the Health IT community.

Hi Amy and William, This course sounds wonderful, it would be HUGELY HELPFUL to have all of the course materials available online. I will soon start working on OpenMRS with VillageHealthWorks.org in Burundi, and was planning on teaching myself most of this (Units 3-8 on the syllabus below). It would be great to have as much online as possible - videos of lectures and/or voice over power point, and class notes would be wonderful. If ...

Isaac Holeman replied to "rapidSMS, an SMS platform for health systems" in the Health IT community.

Hi All, I'm the Field Director for FrontlineSMS:Medic, and just met with Meredith who is working with RapidSMS in Malawi (and she blogged about it: http://montagenik.blogspot.com/2009/08/software-and-developing-world.html). Turns out there is a lot going on in Malawi right now, and both projects are worth following. A note about interfaces: Yesterday I demoed Baobab's version of the OpenMRS medical records system for the main health information manager at a large hospital here. It took him just a ...

Dear Bana, For more information on cell phone based referral system, you may be interested in a recent thread on the GHDonline forum: http://www.ghdonline.org/tech/discussion/blog-post-on-stop-the-stockouts-for-health-it/ I work at a hospital in Malawi that has been using FrontlineSMS for more than a year. The latest addition to this project is to add a phone/SMS based form that outlying health centers can use to coordinate emergency obstetrics referrals with the central hospital.

Isaac Holeman started a discussion "Text in this document is all garbled with code" in the Health IT community.

Hi Joaquin, Most of the text in this document is really garbled with tags that it's almost unreadable. Is anyone else having this problem with this word doc, or is it just me? Would you be able to try re-uploading it, possibly as a pdf? Thanks! Isaac
