Since April 2009, I have been working for the SIM/MTW HIV/AIDS Care and Treatment project in the slums of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. We care for ~350 HIV affected families with a multi-faceted approach. We also are piloting a small TB active case finding project. I am an Adult NP by background, with all of my NP work prior to coming to Ethiopia in medical and/or radiation oncology. I have traveled extensively on one and two week mission trips prior to coming to Ethiopia.

The medical department at MTW sends out more than 600 medical and allied health professionals each year. Focused outreach includes: HIV/AIDS program support,: information exchange with various medical universities and teaching hospitals: disaster response teams: student teaching/training. It aims to provide spiritual care, treatment support, pre-treatment counseling and adherence and community-based care.
