Thank you for your replies. Gabriela- Did your colleagues have any additional information? Marina- Our laboratorian also said you need 10-15 smears per week to maintain proficiency. Is this experiential or is there literature to suppport this estimate? Thanks! Mark

Does anyone know of written recommendations for the minimal volume of specimens that a lab should have for smear, culture, and drug susceptibility testing in order to maintain lab proficiency for these tests? Thanks, Mark
