About Peter Ehrenkranz, MD, MPH
Peter Ehrenkranz is currently Medical Officer & Care and Treatment Team Lead/Advisor for CDC/PEPFAR-Swaziland.

Formerly he was the Medical Director of the Clinton HIV/AIDS Initiative’s programs in Liberia. His primary role was to serve as Senior Technical Advisor to the National AIDS and STI Control Program. He also advised the National Leprosy and Tuberculosis Control Program (NLTCP) and the National Blood Safety Program.

His work focuses on improving access to quality prevention, care and treatment for HIV and TB, but, as much as possible, he strives to leverage the resources available to the vertical programs to strengthen the entire health system.

He received his undergraduate degree in the History of Science and Medicine from Yale University, and medical and public health degrees from Emory University. He trained in internal medicine-primary care at the University of Pennsylvania where he also participated in the Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars Program.

He is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of General Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and a Lecturer in the Department of Health Policy, Division of Epidemiology and Public Health at Yale University.

    Thanks for the post, Rebecca. In Liberia, the National AIDS Control Program has not yet settled on an accepted definition for lost to follow up. We are about to begin a pilot program at our two largest government hospitals using HIV positive peer counselors to trace patients who miss one appointment.     Hello, We started a very promising PLWHA support group in Liberia about 1.5 years ago (http://sghequity.org/positiveliving/Home.html). We recently got funding from Bristol Myers Squibb's Secure the Future Foundation which supports a number of similar organizations and works with them on, among other things, management and M&E.
