Shivani Kaul started a discussion "Handbook for District Hospitals in Resource Constrained Settings on Quality Assurance of Chest Radiography: for better TB control and health system strengthening" in the MDR-TB Treatment & Prevention community.
The main scope of this handbook is to provide a simple way to assess the quality of chest radiograph as well as fundamentals of chest radiography, and to lead to conducting quality assurance for chest radiography even in resource constrained settings. Shivani Kaul started a discussion "Guidelines and specifications for managing TB laboratory equipment and supplies" in the MDR-TB Treatment & Prevention community.
This document is designed to provide guidance to governments, NTPs, donors and others responsible for the procurement, logistics and management of laboratory equipment and other commodities used in TB laboratory services. Such services include reliable TB microscopy and culture, and drug susceptibility testing. The document will be useful in developing systems for the efficient and timely procurement of quality laboratory equipment and supplies, and the ongoing management of all TB-related laboratory commodities.

Shivani Kaul started a discussion "A Roadmap for Ensuring Quality Tuberculosis Diagnostics Services within National Laboratory Strategic Plans" in the MDR-TB Treatment & Prevention community.
This document aims to provide a structured framework for scaling-up TB laboratory services and is based on WHO-recommended norms and standards, documented country best-practices and growing lessons learnt from field experiences by many partners involved in the Global Laboratory Initiative (GLI). Of particular urgency is the integration of TB-specific laboratory networks into national strategic plans for development of comprehensive laboratory systems.

Shivani Kaul replied to "Disposal of sputum for home infection control in MDR TB treatment" in the TB Infection Control community.
Hello all, In this discussion, GHDonline members and moderators exchange knowledge on the appropriate way to dispose of sputum collected in homes of infectious TB patients to control transmission. A new peer-reviewed discussion brief has been published on this topic in the community (at http://www.ghdonline.org/ic/discussion/disposal-of-sputum-for-home-infection-control-in-m/brief/?ref=discussiondetail). We invite you to read it online, share it, and to continue the discussion on how to safely collect and dispose of sputum at home. Thank you, Shivani

Dear All, Fellow GHDonline member Juliano Timm recently posted this question about sputum collection kits: What's you experience in developing kits for home suputum collection and transport (keeping it cold - icepacks?)? Also, are you aware of visual intructions/job aid type of material that goes along the kit, and isn't copyrighted (and could be modified)? Thanks a lot We invite you to share pieces of advice or links with him by replying at this link: ...
