About: On April 2005, The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention-Ethiopia asked Johns Hopkins University to provide technical assistance for the PEPFAR program in Ethiopia. Johns Hopkins was asked to serve as one of four U.S. universities implementing partners in the provision of expert advice and technical assistance as well as structural and intellectual capacity building to Ethiopian hospitals providing free antiretroviral care and treatment, regional health bureaus, federal HAPCO and Ministry of Health, under the new Ethiopian national ART program.
John Hopkins University Technical Support for the Ethiopian HIV/AIDS ART Initiative (JHU-TSEHAI) provides technical assistance to federal, regional and private hospitals in the Addis Ababa region, as well as to regional and zonal hospitals in the Southern Nations (SNNPR), Gambella and Benishangul Gumuz regions, and through a subcontract with the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) to the military medical system.
