Call for Leadership - Participate in the future of YP!

Started by Jason Kroening-Roche on 24 May 2012

Dear YP and NCD Action Networks,

Today, as part of the YP Day of Action, we are pleased to announce our first ever Call for Leadership. Beginning today through June 8th we invite you to nominate members of our networks (YP-CDN and NCD Action) for various leadership positions. The positions will be voted on by the current Global Steering Committee and will begin September 1st. All positions are available, voluntary, and carry one year terms. Many of the current leaders and members of the Global Steering Committee will remain on the Advisory Council and help with the transition, but will not play as large a role in day-to-day operations.

Logistics
Kindly follow the below link to send in your nominations via the on-line form (you CAN nominate yourself and we invite you to do so):

Please read the below message from Sandeep Kishore:

Starting from a group of 12 people in 2 countries to one of 900 people in 70 countries, the YPCDN and NCD Action Networks have grown to capture the creativity, imagination and vision of the world's students, youth and young professionals.

Together, we have jumpstarted inter-disciplinary grassroots movement that is being noticed -- and creating peer to peer friendships and relationships that will last us a lifetime. We have built a collective action platform to position NCDs as a social, economic and structural justice issue -- one of the prime issues of our generation. Critically, we look deeper than the biomedical model to spotlight and amend the root causes of the causes in our society. We have authored a Youth Manifesto and have been active in shaping global and local actions on NCDs -- including in how we re-claim and re-imagine our curricula and training. We support each other in finding new pathways -- we have each others' backs.

But, right now, we can take our platform to the next level with a Global Steering Committee as laid out in the document above. This is where you come in.

This GSC will be globally representative, will include set time aside for consulting with the YP broader groups and ensuring collective movements -- including via our 3T networks -- are possible. This will include positions on community-building, financing and ensuring that YP can provide a clear, public, transparent voice for our collective voice. We want as much participation, dialogue and imagination as possible -- and kindly call on you to help. This is YOUR network and needs your vision and support to keep evolving.
