Idea An All Purpose Medical Information System

By SIMPA DANIA | 04 Dec, 2014

We are developing the All Purpose Medical Information System (APMIS), a connected healthcare platform, that is being implemented in Nigeria.

APMIS is an innovative Health Information System (HIS) that connects all stakeholders together on a single platform to harness the value that various stakeholders seek and is inherent in our connectedness either for health service delivery, education, research or administration.

APMIS empowers patients by providing the patients access to their lifelong medical record while promoting real-time multidisciplinary care provision. It ensures that the patient or client is able to enjoy continuity of care irrespective of the health institution or entity that provides that care whether it is a rural hospital, a private facility, a state general hospital or a tertiary hospital in the city center, to an international consultation.

APMIS also helps hospital owners and managers increases profitability significantly, reducing operational cost and overhead while improving the quality of care and patient satisfaction with service delivery and increasing efficiency of care process.

APMIS can configured to fit any healthcare delivery organization such as any category of hospitals (primary, secondary or tertiary), pharmacy, laboratory or imaging center. It is 100% indigenous, built by medical personnel, it is offered free to health institution and currently being open sourced.

Hi Simpa- thanks for submitting your idea. I think it's great that you have developed a fully functioning all purpose medical information system that is free. I think it's really important to create a standard technology that interfaces across an institution and that "talks" to other systems throughout the nation (and world). Are there any thoughts on if it is important to get governmental support for such an initiative? Also, can you talk about how the system integrates cost data, etc?

Also, where have you implemented this and with what functionality because it sounds very interesting, but usually the main problem in having all of the functionality you are describing is the healthcare institution being able to implement it with all of their other requirements.
