Idea Data interoperability to increase implementation of best practices

By GHDonline Team | 04 Dec, 2014

Idea submitted by: Marc Samet

Full data interoperability to be able to truly define the fully burdened costs of care. Once reliable costs in different settings and case mixes is defined the risk share components of ACA will be more accurate. Increased accuracy in risk-share reimbursement benchmarks will simultaneous increase price transparency while improving clinical outcomes. Finally, real time analytics in different delivery settings will permit best practice protocols for chronic care conditions in order to address the triple aim objective.

Hi Marc- thanks for submitting your idea. I agree that data to define the full costs are really important to provide in real time to clinicians. Also, risk share components are becoming more common place in payer contracts with providers and I think this trend will continue. Do you have any ideas to specifically tie those risk based contracts to real time information at the bedside? This would be truly transformational for many organizations.
