Diagnostics and healthcare information

By Neil Pakenham-Walsh | 22 Jun, 2017

Dear all,

I'm delighted to join this forum on diagnostics.By way of introduction I coordinate a project called HIFA (Healthcare Information For All): www.hifa.org

Our focus is on improving the availability and use of healthcare information in LMICs. We see this - and diagnostics - as part of a broad range of basic needs for any healthcare provider. Healthcare providers can only function effectively if their own basic professional needs are met. These needs may be summarised as:

• Skills
• Equipment
• Information
• Structural support
• Medicines
• Incentives
• Communication facilities.

This spells the acronym SEISMIC - a seismic shift is needed to address the needs of front-line healthcare providers in low-income countries. For too long their needs have been ignored. We look forward to collaborate with you to meet the needs of healthcare providers.

Best wishes, Neil

Let's build a future where people are no longer dying for lack of healthcare information - Join HIFA: www.hifa.org
