I am a Research Officer with Health Systems Unit (HSU) at KEMRI/Wellcome Trust Research Programme Nairobi, Kenya. I studied Computer Technology(BSc.) at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (Kenya) and M.Sc. Health Informatics from the University of Sheffield (UK).
I have been involved with database design and data management for different groups at the unit including a multisite clinical trial (OpenClinica). I have also used REDCap extensively to manage data for surveys. I have also been involved in study design, data analysis and report writing. Current work involves looking at how the use of Electronic Medical Record(EMRs) is evolving in Kenya with a special focus on open source systems and public hospitals.
My interests are: communities of practice for health, social network analysis, information needs for health workers, information seeking behaviour, use of ICT in patient care and the use of ICT in information seeking.
