A Primary Physician for 40+ years with a small, private group of Med-Ped Physicians; located originally near the northwest edge, now central area of Omaha; and a history of participation for 15 years with a gate-keeper, risk sharing HMO. During the HMO years, our patient engagement and work-flow processes reduced hospital days by 30% for employer, medicaid and medicare-eligible groups. For more than 40 years, our clinic has served a variable number of active patients averaging @ 2500 annually (each patient having been seen at least once in the previous 18 months). I serve as the managing partner of our clinic.
I am the author of a proposal for a strategy to reform our nation's healthcare industry. For an annual expense of $1.00 per citizen, a new semi-autonomous institution would be established by Congress 1) to reduce the cost of our nation's healthcare as measured by a reduction of its portion of the GDP from 18% to 12.5%, 2) to improve the quality of our nation's healthcare as measured by a reduction of its maternal mortality ratio by 80%, and 3) to achieve ratification of its state by state involvement by all 50 States. The new institution would achieve these improvements within ten years following the first Meeting of its Board of Trustees. The new semi-autonomous institution would be established by a Congressional Charter.
