After losing her father to a medication adverse event, Soojin chose to become a pharmacist with a passion to do something about ironic healthcare system in US that harms patients when it is supposed to make better for patients. While at school, she developed business plans with a pharmacy intervened solution that could have helped her as a caregiver that led her to compete in competitions and end up to network with top innovators in USA by participating in innovation conferences like South by Southwest and Health 2.0. It opened her eyes in health innovation but she was disappointed that there were no IT solutions for patients with language gaps, including her own. Since then she changed her focus to health IT solutions for health literacy and patients with limited English proficiency (LEP), because she believes there are IT solutions that can help close those gaps.
