Bio

Dr Tivani Mashamba-Thompson is a Senior Lecturer, coordinator of Master of Medical Science programme in the Discipline of Public Health Medicine, UKZN and an HPCSA registered Medical Biological Scientist. She is one of the 2017/2018 Harvard Medical School Global Clinical Scholars. She completed her PhD in Public Health. Tivani is dedicated to her development and to that of others. In recognition of her academic excellence and community engagement, she was awarded the Golden Key for Superior Scholastic Attainment and Outstanding Academic Merit in 2014. Her passion and expertise in translation medicine is demonstrated by multiple publications in national and international journals, as well as her recent pioneering of a Systematic Review Unit in UKZN. Prior to joining the UKZN, Tivani worked for the UK National Health Services (NHS) as a Biomedical Scientist and completed her undergraduate studies in the University of Surrey and University of Greenwich, UK
