The Abstract Deadline for the US Investigators’ Network Symposium on Global Non-Communicable Diseases Research has been extended until June 27th. If you are planning to attend the symposium, please send me a note, as we'd love to have a get together for YP members!
September 8-9, 2014
Emory Conference Center
A coalition of US universities has joined forces to convene a national network of investigators whose research focuses on global non-communicable diseases (NCD). The primary foci of this event are to identify new opportunities for US junior and senior investigators and academia to forge partnerships in global NCD research, and to identify potential funding streams to support these initiatives. Parties interested in joining the planning committee or providing sponsorship may contact Olivia Manders.
The purpose of this network meeting is to:
· Identify specific themes and topics that are conducive to successful global NCD collaborations and how these can provide added-value to US funding organizations and to US science, academia and society;
· Discuss the career development opportunities that global collaborations in NCD research offer junior investigators (doctoral and post-doctoral fellows, junior faculty);
· Examine current and future sources of funding for US investigators to engage in global collaborations in NCD research and how they might be leveraged;
· Discuss how US agencies and funding bodies support US researchers in global NCDs.
In addition to participating in working groups that will collaboratively address the topics listed above, participants will have the opportunity to engage with members of key research funding organizations and learn about and participate in charting the future of global research in NCDs in the US. All the best,
